Tell Us About Your Organization

Despite being the original inhabitants of the equatorial forests of the Great Lakes region of Africa, Indigenous Peoples are, in official terms, virtually invisible. Subject to continued discrimination leading to poverty, unemployment and reduced access to education and medical care, their situation is further aggravated by a lack of recognition of their difficulties by communities and institutions.

It is extremely difficult, often even impossible, to find data and statistics about indigenous communities in the Democratic Republic of Congo and it is even harder to find data relating to the situation of indigenous women and girls. Indigenous Women for Health and Equality operates as a non-profit, apolitical, non-denominational organization with no ethnic, racial or tribal affiliation.
