Sharing dreams is a Peruvian not-for-profit civil organisation that has been legally registered since 2009. The organisation is involved in various volunteer programmes in the areas of the Central Andes of Peru. The programmes target improving the quality of life of Andean people and communities that suffer from hardship and social, economic and cultural exclusion.
For the last four years, we have been working with communities, with the help of Foreign and Peruvian volunteers, developing projects that target organising and empowering groups of migrant Andean women. We focus on aspects such as gender-based problems, sexism, sex education, health, nutrition etc. We also develop hands-on projects for constructing communal bio-organic plots, improved kitchens and living spaces, amongst others.
In addition, we run a wonderful project with children from the families we work with, providing educational and emotional support and material to those that live in zones of extreme poverty, in and around the city of Huancayo in the Peruvian Andes. We help to instill values and self-esteem, and provide emotional care, tutelage, assistance in schooling, educational games, amongst others.
Our organisation operates as a flat structure. It is self-managed and transparent. Therefore, volunteers are able to work in any area they are interested in, where tasks are coordinated and planned by all. Volunteers may undertake any role they wish.
If you are looking to contribute to a social volunteering project that provides real experience in social work, with no intermediaries, that is developed by volunteers themselves, where you work in teams, offering you socio-cultural immersion at litle / no cost (excursions, language or cooking courses, access to knowledge on culture and folklore), in a rewarding and fun format, write to us.
At weekends, group excursions and camp stays are organised to many areas of interest around the project (mountaineering, eco-trips, trips to the central forest, cultural immersion in the villages).
All projects are created and developed by us and are available throughout the year.
